IMSU Reacts to Misleading Online Publication Titled: "IMSU Boils As Vc Dares Uzodimma Over Gov's Amnesty Granted to Over 250 Nursing Science Students, Challenges Governor's Power to Grant Pardon"

IMO STATE UNIVERSITY, OWERRI.

REJOINDER

The attention of Imo State University Management has been drawn to a publication circulating online with a misleading caption, "IMSU Boils As Vc Dares Uzodimma Over Gov's Amnesty Granted to Over 250 Nursing Science Students, Challenges Governor's Power to Grant Pardon".

Both the caption and the story itself are not only misleading but also falsification of facts.

We therefore wish to set the records straight as follows:

1. That these group of people that are taking laws into their own hands thereby disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the University are some fake Students who are parading themselves as Students of Imo State University, as well as some bonafide Students of the University who transferred themselves to another Department without authorization.

2. In obedience to the directive of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Management of Imo State University, set up a Committee to determine the status of those affected by the alleged change of Programme.

3. This matter is not limited to Nursing Science alone as it cuts across all departments of the university. Every other Department in the University affected, including Law, obeyed the directive, except in the Nursing Science Department, that these unruly Students resorted to violence.

4. The Committee met and developed a Form that was issued to those concerned, for free, which lasted from Friday, March 27, 2025, to Thursday, April 3, 2025.

5. JAMB Admission Letter, IMSU Admission Letter, Copy of Duly filled and signed change of course form, Evidence of all School Fees paid, Last Sessional results before the attempted change and after the change, Evidence of clearance Form from Faculty Officer, as well as a letter of Undertaking duly signed by the candidate not to be involved in any fraudulent act or admission racketeering, were listed as documents to be submitted alongside the Form for scrutiny.

6. After careful scrutiny, a list of bonafide Students with the approved departments and levels was published, as well as a list of those not approved for change, but were advised to resume in their originally admitted Programme/Course.

7. To allow them room to adjust to their new Departments and set, Management postponed examination for 2 weeks

8. Furthermore, a list of Fake Students whose names are not anywhere in the university's admission database, who have been parading themselves as Students of Imo State University, were equally published and advised to stop deceiving themselves as they are strangers to the University

9. This malicious publication is the handwork of enemies of progress who are directly or indirectly affected by the sanitization going on in the university over the last few years as well as those who are not happy with the achievements recorded so far by the Management of Imo State University, under the able leadership of Professor U. U. Chukwumaeze, SAN, FCArb,

10. The general public is hereby advised to disregard the misleading publication because those behind it are victims of fraudsters and those who have bluntly refused to adapt to the positive change going on in the University, daily.

11. Imo State University as an institution committed to excellence can not bow to such a cheap blackmail.

12. This refusal seeks to protect the integrity and reputation of Imo State University and its Vice-Chancellor, Professor U. U. Chukwumaeze, SAN, FCArb, and to set the records straight.
