The Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE) on Monday, 14 October, 2024, paid a courtesy visit on the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University (IMSU), Professor Uchefula U. Chukwumaeze, SAN, FCArb.
The members of the delegation, led by her President, Professor Job Nmadu, were received in the Vice Chancellor's office. . The upcoming 24th Annual Conference of the Association slated from October 14 to 18, 2024, at the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors, along Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, Imo State, was the reason for the courtesy visit.
The NAAE team invited Vice Chancellor to the event as a guest. The conference will focus on “Environmental Sustainability: Food and Water Security,” and aim to gather experts to discuss sustainable food systems and evaluate policies for enhancing food security at various levels.
The delegation further added that the event promises to foster critical discussions on pressing agricultural issues.The NAAE team commended the clean, friendly, and conducive environment of IMSU under Professor Chukwumaeze's leadership, particularly highlighting the University's tree planting initiative.
In response, Professor Chukwumaeze emphasized agriculture's significance in all aspects of life, citing examples from countries like Russia and Ukraine, where agriculture is the major income source. He stated that upon becoming the Vice Chancellor, he initiated tree planting efforts with various species, including citrus, coconut, and palm trees.
He assured the NAAE team of his attendance at the conference and wished them success.
